High blood pressure (hypertension), is a risk for kidney disease, as well as heart attack and stroke. But most of the time, there are no signs or symptoms.

Hypertension is a common disorder of the circulatory system, affects around one in seven adult Australians, and becomes more common with age.

People with high blood pressure can be having damage occurring to their heart, kidneys, eye and circulation without noticing, a good reason to have your blood pressure tested regularly, particularly as you get older, when arteries tend to become more rigid.
